Sally Kohn, CNN

Political Commentator and Columnist

Sally Kohn is a CNN political commentator, a columnist and one of the leading progressive voices in America today.

Before joining CNN, Sally was a Fox News contributor — the inspiration for her two TED Talks which have been watched more than 2.5 million times.  Among the outlets Sally regularly writes for are the Daily Beast, Time Magazine, the Washington Post.  Her work has been highlighted everywhere from the Colbert Report to the National Review.

Prior to joining the media, Sally worked for over a decade as a community organizer — on issues ranging from criminal justice reform, to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights, to immigrant rights.  She is a graduate of George Washington University and has graduate degrees in non-profit management and law from New York University.  Originally from Allentown, Pennsylvania, Sally now lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her partner and their daughter.  And a dog, too.

Sally is currently working on a book about incivility and cruelty in politics and culture, which will be published in the fall of 2017.  And in addition to being one of the most influential thinkers in the media as a whole, the Advocate magazine has ranked Sally as the 35th most influential LGBT person in the media today.
